"Dismissal like a naughty school boy"

About: Grosvenor Medical Centre

I have just been taken of the register due to the fact I have complained several times about incompetence in the practice . It all started 3 years ago when I suffered a heart attack. During the coming months I had appointment and blood test cancelled by somebody in the practice, prescription were not filled correctly . I have NOT seen a doctor at the practise since my heart attack , after complaining very strongly I receive a yellow card about behaviour , problems again with another complaint 2nd yellow card , this week called about prescription spoke to a receptionist , she dealt with the issue I apologise for my error and she gave me a new prescription . Following day RED card taken of register . Don’t let’s get confused with assertiveness with bad behaviour , complaining about service in a service industry is a issue today .

The Practice supports the government's 'Zero Tolerance' campaign for Health Service Staff. This states that GPs and their staff have a right to care for others without fear of being attacked or abused. To successfully provide these services a mutual respect between all the staff and patients has to be in place.

Our Practice staff aim to be polite, helpful, and sensitive to all patients’ individual needs and circumstances. The staff understand that ill patients do not always act in a reasonable manner and will take this into consideration when trying to deal with a misunderstanding or complaint.

Types of behaviour that would be found unacceptable include

• Verbal abuse towards the staff in any form including verbally insulting the staff

• Persistent or unrealistic demands that cause stress to staff will not be accepted. Requests will be met wherever possible and explanations given when they cannot

The removal of patients from our list is an exceptional and rare event and is a last resort in an impaired patient-practice relationship. We value and respect good patient-doctor relationships based on mutual respect and trust.

The Practice follows the zero tolerance guidelines to ensure staff do not feel threatened in the work place. The practice does not remove patients because complaints were received against the practice or its staff.
