Called 111 at 04:15 after suffering sickness and diarrhoea for three days was advised to go to the A&E department of the Royal united hospital Bath, arrived at 05:30 checked in and was seen by a nurse.
At 07:00 was informed that I may be seen at 07:30, my husband who had driven me at this point had to take the day off of work, at 08:10 I asked again when I might be seen and was told 11:30 and even then I may not be seen. When I arrived I was the only person in the waiting room apart from one person who had been discharged and one person sleeping off effects of a good night out !
At 08:30 I called my own GP in Trowbridge and was given an appointment at 09:00, what is the point on having a 111 out of hours service if the advice is to go to A&E and that hospital clearly not having the time or staff to see you for what would have been six hours.
