"Very poor vital service to the community"

About: Hailsham Medical Group

I am aged 72 with a long experience of our health service. Until a few years ago I enjoyed good health and rarely needed to see a GP or nurse. Over the past 5 years I have developed complex health issues involving several major operations and hospitalization. Cancer, heart disease, valve replacements, ED and andrology problems. While the GPs and most of the nurses act in a professional manner, the reception staff (with some exceptions) are often obstructive, unhelpful and often seem confused. They mess up your appointments (e.g. fail to put your appointment on the system) and are very slow to respond as you wait by their window to be seen. As far as the actual appointments are concerned, the doctors/nurses/pharmacist seem very unprepared for your very limited appointment. On most occasions, they have not even opened your notes and medical history, so you spend several minutes explaining why you are in front of them and why. It is totally ludicrous that we are only allowed to discuss one issue per appointment when people, like me. have several ongoing issues to discuss.. All we get is excuses for such sloppy and inadequate care. It is not the patients' problem rhat so many staff seem to go on regular sick leave and your drive to save money (at your patient's expense). Just not good enough. Such a bad experience for me so far. Never before in all my life have I come across such a poorly run surgery.. The practice has far too many patients vis-a-vis the number of staff you employ.
