After waiting months for an appointment I arrived at a department that I found very unhelpful.
The receptionists were not welcoming, no friendly smile, just “take a seat”. I then got called in by a registrar who took my history down and examined me only to then disappear into another room to speak with an actual consultant.
The registrar came back and said the consultant would be popping in to see me to also look at my rash.
I was told I would need biopsies but I couldn’t book that appointment, it would be sent out to me. I was told the results normally take about 2 months to come back???
When the consultant came in she wasn’t in the room 2-3 minutes before leaving again. I was asking her questions but could tell she was in a rush to leave.
I understand some conditions are more serious than others but all patients should be able to air their concerns and be reassured that the hospital will do everything they can to help.
The registrar then told me to book an appointment to come back at the reception which I did. I was told the soonest appointment available was February 2020! (5 months off!) During this whole time I was just made to feel like an inconvenience and I am now even more worried about my health concerns.
