"Stay in hospital"

Ward 8. In four days, in side ward, as unsure of the issues. Been offered operation and the patient has agreed to that. On a lot of medication that they’re trying to sort out. Doesn’t always hear what doctors are saying as slight hearing problem. Lots of student doctors, it was explained that it’s teaching hospital. Very happy that she had good information re operation. Doctor rang the patient's daughter at home. Daughter discussed operation with the patient. Patient unsure initially until her daughter explained the procedure.

Doctor asked to speak to daughter again and xplained every detail of op. Very good - spoke to patient for half hour and explained everything. Patient and her daughter really appreciated time spent. Still can’t sleep well as she is anxious, but staff trying to get medication right.

Family has previously been to different hospitals trying to get help, but happy with present help. All the staff been great.

Happy with single room, especially as hearing affected. Staff take an interest in her feelings and take into consideration her difficulty with hearing.

Hairmyers definately the best hospital, as been inpatients in other hospitals.

Open visiting a great help as family can share visiting.

Suggests there should be more care for carers as daughter struggles at time, suggested carers support.
