i am usually fit and well but this year I have had three major health crises and needed urgent treatment. In addition a close friend had an episode of ITU care for Gullian Barré syndrome. I have over thirty years healthcare experience having variously been a Director of nursing. A Director of the CQC, and a clinical negligence lawyer. I have seen an awful lot of hospitals in my time. Musgrove is incredible. I don’t think people realise just how great they are. From the consultant to the cleaner I cannot praise their care enough. Great clinical decision making. Thoughtful involvement, even where people (like me) are not great patients. The thing that has blown me away is witnessing the everyday competence, skill and compassion. Often the small things, the kind moment, the fact that the nurses make time even when they are busy. Faultlessly cheerful. They say that a working culture is what happens when no one is looking. An inpatient patient by nature I did watch, and very carefully. These guys have it nailed. I feel so proud of the NHS and of these brave, skilled, kind people. Well done. I am humbled
