"Kidney stones, renal colic and psoriasis on..."

About: Dr M Flynn's Practice

Have cradlecap gp didn’t understand what to do but did prescribe me best shampoo and accepted reason why it’s probably flared up.Another gp I saw there months ago with this asked me did I want a carer to wash my hair. She didn’t understand I was more than capable of washing my hair.I’use a wheelchair.I’ve had recent back pain which ignored because didn’t want to feel like a time wasting attention seeker. No sign of Urinary tract infection so I thought I’d just stained my back as the pain wasn’t to bad.Pain worse last week and manager told me to contact specialist secretary. She told me to go straight to A and E.I didn’t want to bother gp again.Because I have spina bifida Had boughts Of anaemia, cradlecap and now more kidneystones I didn’t want certain gps and practice nurse getting the wrong impressions thinking I could not look after myself.I also did not want to appear to be an attention seeking time waster. One particular gp there does understand all my health issues and I wish he was the gp looking after me.It’s my current gps fault they’re just not seeing many patients with spina bifida, hydrocephalus and renal problems related to spina bifida. However it would be good if some of your gps and nurses didn’t come to the wrong conclusions just because I have a physical disability. However receptions have always been very respectful and always do their best to help.I had loads of surgery throughout my life and hospitals,gp’s,A and E,treatment rooms etc are the last places I want to be.!!!

Thank you for taking the time to leave feedback we always appreciate it.

We never think of Patients as being attention seeking or time wasters so please don't worry about that in the future. You are right to say that with less common conditions Doctors' expertise will vary based on their experience with that condition and ongoing learning about how to better support that condition is a part of every Clinician's job. Whatever we can do to help we will and if you feel that a suggestion is not suitable for you then please continue to work with the Doctors & Nurses to find one that is.

Our goal is to always find the best outcome for your health and care and if you ever feel that this is not the case please feel free to call me at the Practice to talk about it.

Many thanks again,

Simon - Operations Manager
