"MS monthly Coffee mornings"

About: Edgware Community Hospital / Neurological Rehabilitation Centre

(as the patient),

Just when you would think it could not get better, our Barnet MS Nurse,

Bhawni did it again with her monthly coffee morning at the Edgware Community Hospital on the last Friday of August.

Our guest speaker was an MS Nurse Clinical Specialist, specialist subject was the taboo but essential topic of Bladder & Bowel concerns.

Her opening slide suggesting that in the UK 14 million people report bladder problems of some kind and around 6.5 million suffer from bowel symptoms of some kind. And when we were told of the incredibly high percentages of those in the MS club being affected by bladder and bowel problems from constipation to other concerns, the room somehow relaxed as we all realised that we are not so different. We sat back to listen, relax and learn so much from Noreen.

As Noreen spoke everyone seemed to recognise a particular problem that ticked a box for each person in the room. It was a brilliant presentation which explained very clearly some of the problems facing us all, coupled with some useful advice on how to “Keep your MS Bladder and Bowel Happy”.

Each month, on the morning of the last Friday, Bhawni organises a coffee morning for all those with MS. It is held at the Neurological Rehabilitation Centre. The specially selected speakers are of the highest order. It is a real privilege to be there.
