"Death of my wife."

About: Dorset County Hospital

My lovely wife( Joan ) died on Abbotsbury Ward on Wednesday August 21st. Could I say that the Head Nurse was a tower of strength and compassion during this ordeal? I should like to thank the Pallative team, all the superb staff nurses, the doctors for giving me the unvarnished truth about my wife’s condition ? The catering staff always found me delicious left over meals whilst I slept overnight on the ward, and the 24 hour cleaners for their endless patience and kind words. I thank you all all from the bottom of my heart, for making a dreadful experience bearable. A splendid hospital, full of wonderful, dedicated people. You hear lots of criticism of the N.H.S., but I would back this group against any in the world! my heartfelt gratitude to you all.

Dear Terence

Please accept my sincere condolences for the sad loss of your lovely wife, Joan.

Thank you so much for taking the time to leave your comments about the care and support you received from the staff in Abbotsbury Ward and the wider hospital staff at such a difficult time – this is the high standard of care that we hope to achieve for all our patients and relatives and it is great to see we are getting it right to support our patients and relatives at the most painful and emotional time.

Your feedback is valuable to let us know how we are doing – I will ensure the staff involved are made aware of your lovely comments.

Best wishes

Alison Male
