"Horrible experience"

About: Bristol Royal Infirmary / Endocrinology

After months of waiting whilst feeling extremely unwell, I was met with hostility from the start.

The consultant seemed annoyed that I’d asked to be seen at a ‘Centre of Excellence’ and I felt intimidated and bullied throughout the appointment.

I was asked “what were you expecting” and “what exactly do you want from me”.

I was speechless.

I wanted help but now I’m at the end of the queue at a different hospital whilst my health deteriorates weekly.

When a Doctor loses compassion then maybe they need a different career.

I can’t think where else in life someone is allowed to speak to you like that. On reflection I am glad I won’t have to attend this department again.

The nurses, however, are kind, polite and a credit to the department.

Thank you for getting in touch. We’re so sorry to hear about your experience during your recent visit. Our patient support and complaints team can look in to this issue further and can be reached via psct@uhbristol.nhs.uk or 0117 342 1050. They may ask you for a bit more information including your hospital/NHS number and the date of your appointment. In the meantime, I will pass your comments on to the department so they are aware of your feedback.

Kind regards,

UH Bristol
