"Dissatisfied"

About: Birch Hill Hospital

I have recently visited in attendance of an appointment on behalf of my brother and quite frankly i am appalled and displeased by this ward and what i am seeing.

The staff show no empathy towards patients let alone their families. The staff are always gossiping amongst themselves and avoiding responding to questions by patients by trying to pass it over to another member of staff. During my 30 minute wait i watched several patients be passed from pillar to post. Firstly, i feel thats distressing for a patient and secondly i do not believe it is acceptable behaviour considering their condition.

It is evident the staff in this ward lack in basic care or empathy towards patients. It appears the members of staff spend large quantity of time in the office avoiding patients. Considering how many members of staff are sitting in the office, i do not understand why they take circa 10 minutes to respond to the main door buzzer that leads to entering the ward.

I do not recommend anyone to admit a family member to this ward. The patient will not improve but instead get worse.
