"First class care from beginning to end"

About: Borders General Hospital / Cardiology NHS 24 / NHS 24 (111 service) Scottish Ambulance Service

(as a service user),

My wife was admitted to Borders General Hospital with a heart attack, and we would like to say how grateful we are for the treatment, care and attention she received. It really was first class from beginning to end.

When I say from beginning to end, I mean from the very first phone call to NHS 24 where we received excellent and immediate service to the ambulance service who also provided great service, then onto wards 4 and 5 at Borders General Hospital where the care was absolutely first class.

I cannot thank the service enough. I feel aggrieved when I hear people complaining about the NHS – we have used the NHS many times and have always been delighted with the service.

I must also mention the restaurant at Borders General which was first class!

We would both like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in our care, and I’m pleased to say that my wife is recovering well.

Dear pictorrf67

I was very sorry to learn your wife suffered a heart attack, however I am delighted to hear she is recovering well. This must have been such a worrying time.

How kind of you to contact Care Opinion to provide positive feedback of your wife's, and your, care. I am sure my colleagues within NHS Borders and the Scottish Ambulance Service will be delighted with your comments.

Thanks specifically for mentioning the staff here at NHS 24 who managed the call to 111. Patient safety and a positive patient/caller experience are our top priorities. If you would be kind enough to share some additional detail with me, then I could pass your thanks directly to the staff who managed your call. You can get me on 0141 337 4582 or by email at Patient.Experience@nhs24.scot.nhs.uk

Here at NHS 24, over 200 of our staff are able to read the stories and responses posted on Care Opinion, therefore seeing a story such as yours reinforces for them the hugely important part they have in providing seamless patient care. It is also good for us to get to know what happens once a call to our service ends. I am so pleased the outcome for your wife is positive.

I agree with you regarding the restaurant at Borders General! I have visited there when attending a meeting at Borders - top marks to them!

Thanks again for getting in touch. I hope to hear further from you.

With kind regards to you both.

Shona

Dear pictorrf67,

I am sorry to hear that your wife had reason to use our services and that of our partner services in the NHS Scotland. I do hope that your wifes recovery is going as well as expected. I am however really pleased around the positive feedback that you have provided around the whole experience. To echo Shonas comments we are delighted to hear that there was a great service received. You have also inspired me to go and eat at borders general hospital with both of you commenting on it:)

Thanks again and all the very best to you and your wife!

Alan

Dear pictorrf67

I am sorry to hear that your wife suffered a heart attack recently however, I am very pleased to hear that she is well on the way to recovery.

I would also like to add thanks on behalf of NHS Borders staff in Wards 4 and 5 for you taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion. It really is a great motivation for our staff to receive feedback directly from our patients and their relatives.

It is brilliant to hear that you found the care and treatment your wife received from NHS 24, the ambulance staff and Borders General Hospital to be first class during what I am sure would have been a very worrying time for you both.

I have shared your feedback with staff on Wards 4 and 5 and the also our catering team who will be also delighted to hear such a great review!

Thanks again for using Care Opinion, best wishes

Karen
