"Poor care at the eye casualty"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - Queen's Medical Centre Campus / Accident and emergency

The first nurse I saw really couldn’t give a damn about what I was explaining to her she told me I shouldn’t even be here even though I was advised to go by my optician the second nurse was rude obnoxious and abrupt contradicted herself on more than one occasion had no interest in my explanation why I was here while waiting a patient who was not in full possession of her faculties asked a passing nurse a simple question and the reply was so rude and uncaring it beggars belief staff were moaning they were busy but I witnessed a lot of them standing around talking for long periods of time doing nothing needs more efficiently managing seems like there is a lot of staff doing not a lot an awful waste of manpower.

I’m sorry to hear you had a poor experience in our Eye Casualty. I’m concerned that some staff displayed poor attitudes and behaviours and we are currently reviewing the roles and responsibilities of staff members within the department based on patient’s feedback. I’ve shared your comments with relevant colleagues so we can learn and improve for our patients, however, if you would find it helpful to discuss your concerns further so that we can speak to the individuals concerned, please don’t hesitate to contact me on 0115 924 9924 ext 64127.

Kind regards

James Povey

Matron, Eye Casualty
