I had an appointment at AEU from my GP’s referral on Saturday 10th August. My appointment time was 9.30am and I eventually had the required procedure at 8.30pm! This review, however is not a complaint. On the contrary, I have only the highest praise for the staff and care I encountered. From the outset the Nurse Practitioner exuded professionalism, friendliness and the utmost concern for my predicament. She continued to keep me informed about the difficulties staff were encountering on this particular weekend and apologised for my wait throughout the day. She was due to go off duty at 8.00pm after a 12 hour shift but stayed to assist the doctor who carried it out. The doctor who performed the procedure was also wonderful; he was kind, apologetic and extremely reassuring. After an 11 and a half hour shift he performed a pain free procedure which I had been dreading. A further 2 hour for results but I left the hospital at 11.00pm feeling secure from the thorough diagnosis from a team of brilliant practitioners. I am grateful and humbled by this experience and realise how crucial it is that the NHS does all it can to retain and recruit more staff like those I encountered this weekend. Thank you.
"Humbling experience."
