"12 hour wait at Stoke Royal A&E"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Accident and emergency

I was referred to Stoke Royal A&E to rule out a blood clot in my leg , I arrived at 8pm Friday the 2nd of July and wasn't seen by a doctor untill the following morning at 8:30am there were also elderly people and children, I have written to my MP and he is looking in to this , we sat on plastic chairs it was dreadful for the elderly people very upsetting

Thank you for taking the time to provide your feedback. I am so sorry to hear that you had such a long wait in our Emergency department. Unfortunately Friday night is an extremely busy time in the department. All patients are triaged and emergencies always take priority.

We are working hard to improve this for our patients.

Our chairs are plastic because we are restricted by infection prevention regulations which stipulate that all furniture must be easily cleaned.

Kind Regards

Angela Grocott
