"My husband's suspected DVT"

About: Grantham & District Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a relative),

We had just started our holiday and were staying with friends near Grantham when my husband's right calf suddenly swelled up. He'd hurt his knee a week earlier but we thought it was getting better after resting it. As a nurse, I knew that a suddenly swollen calf after a period of inactivity is worrying, so off we went to Grantham A& E...who were wonderful. We were seen quickly, by friendly and efficient staff, a plan was made - this was Saturday and by Monday we had an ultrasound appointment which thankfully ruled out DVT. We had to return on Sunday as we'd had trouble getting the prescription for blood thinners dispensed and once again the staff were extremely helpful and sorted it all out, fortunately we didn't need them after the scan on Monday anyway. From the moment we arrived on Saturday to the moment we left on Monday, enormously relieved that it wasn't a DVT, the care we had was exceptional.

Hi RuthHR

As a team, we take pride in the service we provide and are always aiming to make improvements. I am delighted that you are doing well and would like to acknowledge the fantastic team that we have here in Grantham.

I will share your feedback with them accordingly. Comments are shared at morning meetings and feedback such as this will certainly help boost morale and remind staff that their hard work and dedication is appreciated.

Regards

Teresa
