Having never required hospital treatment in the past I was very anxious about the operation I needed to have. although I had been kept well informed regarding the procedure I was still very uneasy . I arrived at the appointed time and was checked in without any delay and allocated a surprisingly comfortable bed on ward F10. The consultant visited me and again explained the procedure, the anaesthetist also popped in to see me and discuss options.
Ward staff also checked on me regularly .When time for the operation arrived two very friendly staff arrived to wheel me down to theatre, chatting and laughing with me on the way which really did help me to calm down. After waiting for a few minutes ( it felt like waiting for a plane with its engine running to take off)
I was wheeled into a room where the anaesthetist met me ,we chatted whilst she rubbed some cold stuff on my hand and the next thing I knew a nurse was patting me on the cheek asking me to wake up as it was all done.
Can’t believe how easy it all was and all that worrying I did about the procedure was totally for nothing.
Spent two nights in ward F10 with really friendly, kind and helpful staff looking after me, the consultant popped back to see me just after the op to let me know how the op went, I felt quite spoilt really. Thank you Gynaecology department staff for the super care you gave to me.
"A very positive experience"
