We arrived at the A&E on said date. It was quite busy. I observed patients waiting to be attended to. I was most impressed that doctors came out to call the next patient in saw to them quickly and efficiently and went straight on to the next patient waiting. I spoke to a couple of patients that had seen the doctor and politely asked if they were ok and they both were more than satisfied with the service they had been given. My husband was called to the triage nurse, explained his situation. Notes were taken , no time wasting and then we went back in the waiting room. About an hour later he was called to go into the assessment area where a doctor examined him. My husband needed an ex-ray and I was told I could go as it was getting dusk and he would be admitted to a ward. My husband worries about me being out driving on my own so I left him in safe hands, As I was coming through the assessment area a very drunk person was being a nuisance to staff and he was firmly but politely told he was on the system to sit down in the waiting area and sober up.
How the staff have to put up with such behaviour is beyond me and keep calm and treat these people. My husband was operated on next day and all his treatment from the surgeon and all staff involved was first class .He was in Lyndon 2. I do voluntary work in many sections of Sandwell communities and all I have stated here I will relay on to others. In this day and age we hear all the disparaging remarks of the NHS so we should also comment (as many do) on all the positive. Once again thanks to you all .
