"Midwives from heaven"

About: Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

On 26th May I was induced into labour and the care I received from the beginning was amazing. Moving from being induced to the labour ward was really exciting and when I met my midwife I knew we would get on well, she made me feel really comfortable and talked to me throughout. And then everything stopped... my labour stopped progressing, my waters were broke and I had meconium in my water and although I knew this meant the baby was distressed my midwife managed to keep me calm. Labour still went no where but I was contracting every 2 minutes. I was given the drip to help speed things up but it did not work and I was absolutely shattered. My midwife continued to support me and offered different pain relief techniques before giving me analgesia, as I had asked. Then I was told I had to have an emergency cesarean and I was scared and felt like a failure, my midwife stayed past her shift finishing to ensure I went down to theatre ok. Without her help I don't know how I would have coped. Everyone who looked after me pre and post natal were incredible and I cannot thankyou all enough xxx

Congratulations on the birth of your baby!

Thank you so much for taking the time to feedback on the experience you had at our hospitals. Its always wonderful to read how much the care and support given to women during and after child birth means to parents. I will share your lovely words with the teams who will be delighted to receive them.
