"Touched and privileged to witness that level of care"

About: Tameside General Hospital / General medicine

(as a service user),

My sister is in ward 45 in Tameside Hospital, a stroke ward, whist visiting yesterday, an obviously very poorly lady in the opposite bed who was it seemed semi conscious, and not aware of her surroundings, was lay open mouthed, a nurse came to check on her and noticed she had a dry mouth, she immediately went and brought what looked like a sponge on a small stick and wet the inside of this lovely lady’s mouth, although the lady didn’t seem aware if this, the nurse did it for her comfort, I was so touched and privileged to witness that level of care, the nurse talked to her the whole time, she is a credit to her profession. It’s such a difficult and often thankless job, caring for such poorly people, but very well done to staff if ward 45, you are inspirational! ! !

Good afternoon

Thank you for sharing your lovely experience, it is so gratifying to hear that the patients around you were treated with such great care.

Please be assured that we will pass on your positive comments to the ward and ensure the Director of Nursing is personally made aware of your feedback.

Kind regards

Alexia
