I was referred to the AAU due to suspected pulmonary embolism. Obviously it was a worrying time and for someone who experiences anxiety I felt very apprehensive. However my fears were totally unfounded. The staff were absolutely fantastic. The gentleman who inserted my cannula (so sorry, I didnt get your name) was very competent and reassuring throughout the tests and blood samples he took. The nurse was calm and reassuring and really helped me to relax (that's quite a skill I must say). I was as the unit for 9 hours in total as I needed a lot of tests. Throughout the day I was well looked after despite the ward being very busy. The porters were cheerful and chatty and also made me relax despite the seriousness of my condition. Every member of the team worked incredibly hard and yet managed to smile and always took the time to check I was ok. I did say thank you when I left, however, thank you doesn't seem enough because the whole team contributed to saving my life. Thank you, thank you thank you!
