I got an appointment for a dexascan following what turned out to be a fracture. Dexascan checks bone density and anyone over 50 who has a fracture is called for this. I didn't know that but think its good.
I found it easy to get to Ayrshire Central Hospital by public transport from my home. I had received a form with my appointment which I handed to the nurse who took me for the scan.
I was then seen by a doctor who had seen the scan and who told me my bone density was looking better than the last scan I had. They explained everything, answered all my questions and told me to continue taking the vitamins and medication (alendronic acid) I had been taking.
It was good not having to wait for my results through my GP and I feel good knowing my bone density has improved.
I wanted to let staff know how pleased I am.
