"Ending year long MBT Therapy"

About: Community Forensic Services / Nottinghamshire MBT Service

(as a service user),

I recently had my final 1:1 appointment after completing year-long MBT Therapy (I've just had my last top up session so I've been out of therapy for a year now).

I found hearing other people's view helpful.  The individual sessions (alongside the weekly group sessions) were also helpful as I found it easier to talk in these as I could express myself more easily.  I found the size of the group worked well (8 group members) and I've been in larger groups in the past which I found more difficult as I felt I could get easily lost.

I did find getting to the group difficult at times as I struggled with mornings and with public transport.  The group is also a rolling group so new people joined a regular points throughout the year.  I did find this a struggle at times as I didn't know then at first.

I found the group really helpful as it helped me challenge my paranoia/question things in a good way.  I was also in a situation which challenged me (with others) and helped me feel less isolated.  I also feel less disturbed by my thoughts and found that the group helped me with this as others shared similar experiences to me which was helpful.

Thank you for this feedback. I am pleased you found the group helpful and recognise how this helped you challenge some of the unhelpful thinking patterns you experinced. It also seems that whilst being with others was sometimes hard for you, you found the group helped you feel less isolated and helped you step outside your comfort zone a little (which I hope you were able to take into your every day life).

I hope you are able to build on the work/progress you made throughout your journey through MBT.

Best wishes, Louisa

Thank you for this. Your comments are really helpful. I think the challenging nature of groupwork is often underestimated. For example, it can be very difficult when new people join and the whole dynamic of the group changes. But it was great that you stuck with it and that you are able to refelct on the progress you have made. What you say at the end about being less disturbed by your thoughts because you wre able to hear about he experiences of others is really impressive progress.

With best wishes.

Peter

Thank you for your posting. I can tell how much work you have put into this. It is pleasing to see you stuck at it and you are feeling less isolated which is so important when on your recovery Pathway. Well done all round.
