"Cardiology forth valley royal"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Cardiology Outpatients

(as a service user),

I have been in and out of Forth Valley cardiology both as an inpatient and outpatient over the last few years with cardiac issues. Over this time I’ve got to know some members of the department really well. All Ward staff are brilliant especially Carolyne who ran a tight ship whilst I was in. Housekeeping staff are always willing to go the extra mile to get WiFi codes or even just have a chat with you to cheer you up. On the outpatient department a big shout out to the Device clinic. They are always at the end of the phone if you have any questions or issues. Joanne is amazing too - she is always so kind an caring and really shows patient interest.

Last but not least I would like to take this opportunity to thank the cardiac day care unit. They are a small group of ladies julie, Claire and Leanne who have been there for me whenever I have needed them as of lately. This is one of the most relaxed places I have seen in a hospital ever and I have been in and out of hospital all my life. These ladles are so accommodating and efficient doing there best to help you in any way they can. Sorry if that was long but what a super team you all are. well done x

Dear Cardiology Patient

Thanks for letting us know about your experience of the cardiology service here in Forth Valley over the years. I am so glad you mentioned the many team members who have worked together to look after you. I am sure Carolyn will be delighted to read your message and will respond to you herself. Meantime, thanks on her behalf and on behalf of the ward staff including our housekeeping tem, without whom we couldn't keep the show on the road.

You mentioned Joanne who leads our cardiac investigations service (including the device clinic) without which we wouldn't be able to provide the kind of care you describe. I can confirm she leads a team of individuals all of whom put patients first in everything they do and I am really pleased this seems to be your own experience. You also mention our Cardiology Day Unit (CDU), a relatively new unit, and one which is taking on increased and varied work, designed specifically around our patients' needs. I am delighted to hear you describe it as relaxed - that's exactly what we are aiming for even though at times it's very busy! The CDU has helped us deliver procedures and services for patients that we couldn't previously offer and allowed us to do it in a new way, focussing on patient and family comfort and maximising patients' time at home. We are lucky to have such a brilliant team of nursing staff to back up the work of the unit - and in such a fantastic way.

Your feedback is really appreciated. It helps us know when we are getting things right, and also when we could do better. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us. We look forward to helping you in the future if you need us. In the meantime, take care.

Best wishes

Catherine
