"Exactly what rule did l break and when"

About: Torbay Hospital / Urology

(as a service user),

it is 4.15am I am in terrible pain. however, l can not get any help. the doctors will send me back to the hospital. l was taken there by ambulance  5 days ago.

I spent about 15 or 16 hours in a&e.  in the end, l was transferred to a ward  I do not want to name... I was so very very tired worn out to the limit. in a&e  I sat in a chair with my back killing me. my kidneys are swollen and I am having serious trouble passing water. I am certain the only answer to my problem is a minor operation.

the staff on the ward were nice people. the patients lovely. however, the food was nasty.  I could not eat it.  so l survived on Pepsi and oramorph. which leaves a nasty taste in your mouth. hence the Pepsi.

I complained about the food as it was good food but prepared very very badly. complaining was my big mistake. dinner time came I was not offered any food more than likely because l had complained.  so I asked for some hoping there was an improvement.  I was presented with a cheese salad !!! it did not look fresh and was a plate half full of cheese and a bit of lettuce.  by now l was extremely hungry. l sent it back. l closed the curtains around my bed got my book out and decided to just wait to see the doctor and get sorted....... a nurse came to me opened the curtain closed it sat on the bed and told me l was being discharged!!!!!! I  had not yet seen the doctor. I asked what they were saying... said there are rules and you have broken them... have l asked.... and exactly what rule did l break and when.  my phone pinged a text message l picked it up saw who the text message was from and put the fone back down without reading the message..... nurse then said are you recording me??? I was gobsmacked.... I had to prove the phone was pin locked.

the conversation went back to broken rules.. again l asked what rules l had broken. They then changed it and said my behavior was the issue. please enlighten me l asked... again they went back to broken rules...told me l was being discharged no matter what.... so l said well ok l will wait by the ward in a chair till the doctor comes and free up this bed for a person who may be waiting 15 hours in a&e. and I would tell the doctor that the decision had been made for me to be discharged. The nurse stormed away... I  packed my things and needed an extra plastic bag for my books. l went to the nurse's station and asked for a plastic bag.

this same staff member started screaming at me get back to your bed.  pointing his hand at me. go go back to your bed now. If you don't I will give you a written warning and call security to have you forcibly removed. on the way to the nurse's station, my friend rang l  had answered her saying give me a second while l just asked for the bag.   I forgot she was still on the phone. a nurse pointed this out to me saying someones on your phone... oh *hit l said meaning no harm or badness by it... but omg had I given this nurse a bullet to fire now by swearing...... they got louder and louder. they certainly showed no respect for older women. I got scared of this person, not security and now wish security had been called.

to cut a long horrible story short  I was discharged because l left the ward to meet my visitor who had brought food and clean clothes. while sitting in the car eating at last.  I took legal advice regarding this situation. I  was told whatever you do... do not leave the ward till you are discharged by the doctor and get a copy of your discharge note. so I  rang the ward to be informed I was discharged and I had discharged myself!!!!! I had not left the hospital grounds, which cctv will prove. and I  was not called by the hospital to ask if I had discharged myself which my phone will prove. my advice from the legal person was by text.

so here I am again in agony worse than when l went to that hospital. I used an ambulance to take me the one hour drive to Torbay hospital. I was given gas and air in the ambulance. I took a space in a&e  for many many hours. I took a  desperately needed bed in a hospital. what for ??? I would never dream of abusing the N.H.S.  but there are rules I do not know what they are. only that strange nurse knows what they are. and as for behavior as old as my son is, I know in my heart and soul he would never in million years speak to a woman like I was spoken to let alone an older woman....

I will never ever go near that hospital again.  possibly any hospital again.. I want the world to know about this person. because I am 60 years old... and I have serious concerns about this behavior and rules.  the next 60-year-old might not have a strong heart. I know my condition is a minor operation but it is also a dangerous condition my kidney can fail. but I would sooner leave this world that way rather than being treated like that in   a nhs hospital namely Torbay. I have safeguarding worries about this person. so if you need to stay in Torbay hospital what ever you do.... do not complain because I think thats one of the rules.
