"My visit to shirley Oaks"

Back in April 2019 I had went for a consultation at BMI Shirley Oaks. Within minutes my consultant picked up some issues and decided they would need to carry out surgery. I was given all information at this point and felt extremely confident in the care I was receiving thus far. It was only 5 weeks after my consultation that the operation went ahead.

The hospital sent me letters, SMS reminders and even followed up with a phone call in between this time which I found to be very helpful.

On the morning of my operation, I arrived at reception and within minutes a lovely lady came down to greet me and to bring me to my room - I got a very detailed tour of my room and the ward. The room I stayed in, had a lovely view, was very comfortable and a great size for me and my family.

After settling into my room- a nurse, my anaesthetists and my surgeon popped in, to talk about the procedure in which they would be carrying out – answering all questions and calming my nerves. I then walked down to theatres to be greeted by a lovely team, who made me feel so comfortable and at ease when putting me to sleep. I even got a lovely warm blanket 😊.

I woke up to familiar faces, which helped and was taken back to my room. After this, I had nurses check on me every 30 mins or so and felt in safe hands. Later that day I was discharged and was given numbers to call if and when I required any form of support.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hospital.
