I was admitted at Maple Ward to have a day case surgery but because I had an infection, I had to stay for 2 days and 1 night. My surgery went well. I was taken back to Maple Ward and was told I had to stay to received antibiotics as they found pus in my uterus. I woke up around 4 am because I found out I was bleeding from the operation site. I rang the bell. The nurse came and told me she will be back after 5-10mins as she was doing the obs. I woke up 615am and saw the clean hospital gown at the foot of the bed and the dressing/gauze by the table. The nurse didn't even come back after 2hrs and 15min after I asked for help. So, I rang the bell again to ask for my dressing to be changed.
In the morning, after I saw one consultant made her rounds, the nurse told me I can go home my antibiotics is finished. It was just later in the evening I realized the nurse did not give me any discharge papers, no aftercare advice, NOTHING! I phoned them again Sunday, Monday, Tuesday to ask for my sicknote and my discharge letter. I was told, the ward clerk was off sick hence the delay on my discharge note! Finally, when I received my discharge note. The sick note date was wrong then I read I should have been given antibiotics orally for 5days. I had to book a cab twice to go back to KGH then book an appointment to see my GP to ask for antibiotics. But this was 11 days after my surgery!
What kind of treatment was that? Honestly, infection after surgery should be treated with the utmost care! There are also some discrepancies as to what I had been told then what was written in the letter. This was really appalling!
