"Poor care following operation"

About: Nems Platform One Practice Nottingham CityCare Partnership

(as a service user),

I have been repeatedly sent from platform one to the urgent care centre for treatment the urgent care centre do not provide. The urgent care centre informed me that they stopped providing a wound dressing service five years ago, that all gp practices were informed at the time and that they feature this information prominently on their website. Still I am sat in the urgent care centre, waiting to be told again they cannot treat me. I am disabled with multiple comorbid diagnoses and being sent from pillar to post over and over is making my health significantly worse. I have to have the same procedure every two days for two weeks. I have only been able to make appointments for less than half the time. I am currently expecting not to find treatment within the time the hospital told me I needed it, which leaves me at risk of reinfection and even blood poisoning. How is it acceptable to leave a person in this situation?.

Many thanks for submitting feedback about your recent experience.

City Care's "Treatment Room Service" provide a wound dressing clinic on weekends at Seaton House. This is bookable through Nottingham GPs. As a result of your feedback, we will be reminding all Nottingham GPs that the Treatment Room Service should not be confused with the Urgent Care Centre. The confusion seems to be that both services run from the same location.

Please accept our apologies for your incorrect signposting to the Urgent Care Centre.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We are extremely sorry to hear about your recent experience, this must have been extremely frustrating for you, please accept our sincere apologies.

From the information you have provided it sounds as though you may have been given incorrect advice. The reception team are aware that the Urgent Care Centre does not provide a wound dressing service; this is a service we offer at our own Practice. If patients are struggling to pre book appointments for dressings our reception team advises patients to attend our nurse drop in clinic. This is available from 10am until 12pm Monday to Friday, I am sorry if you were not made aware of this.

It is difficult for me to comment further on your individual experience as you have remained anonymous but I would like to assure you that we take all feedback seriously and your comments will be shared with the reception team.

If you would like to discuss this matter further please do not hesitate to contact me.

Practice Manager

Update posted by Fed up with the NHS (a service user)

Funny you say you that, three separate receptionists certainly didn't know that a month ago. I have used the nurse drop in regularly, still was sent to the urgent care centre several times. Would you care to check that all the reception staff know? If it will help I can get in touch directly.
