I've been with the surgery for almost a year but I have never been able to get an appointment. The vast majority of appointments can only be booked on the day but every single time I've attempted to call first thing in the morning the appointments have all gone by the time they answer my call. You can't book appointments in advance (there are a few released through the online system but usually it says no appointments available). This system meant I missed two of my routine antenatal appointments - which the hospital paid the surgery to carry out - which is simply unacceptable. I am now battling to be seen on time for my post-natal check up and from the information provided by reception staff it sounds like child immunisations are carried out to a slower schedule than advised by the NHS. It's a real shame as the staff are lovely, but the appointment system has effectively left me without GP care and I'll be looking to switch. One simple suggestion to help manage demand for appointments would be to offer phone consultations - many other surgeries do this so I'm not sure why it's not available here.
