"Confusion with appointments"

About: Golden Jubilee National Hospital / General Surgery

(as the patient),

In early June I had an appointment at Golden Jubilee Glasgow to see a consultant about my knee replacement. I was and still am having extreme pain. On arrival I was directed to pre op assesment where the nurse duly gave me an ECG and took my blood pressure. Then the nurse asked me if I knew what I was there for and I replied to see a consultant about my extreme pain in my right knee. They said no it was for a pre op on my left knee and I said no it was my right knee as I have extreme pain and swelling in my right knee. They apologised for the mix up and made me an appointment to see the surgeon who carried out my previous op earlier this year. I duly attended this appointment and was told that my knee was swollen and that they were aware I had trouble bending it from day one. I was told they would make an appointment for me to see a colleague.

The said appointment was made for early this month at GJ to which I attended in the morning. On inspection of my paperwork the person in charge said did I know what I was there for and I said I was told by my previous surgeon that I would be seeing a colleague to inspect my knee and I was told that the appointment had not been made. They then said that an appointment has now been made for later in August.

I am using the hospital transport from the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh early in the morning on these dates to take me to Glasgow. Although on saying this, they did not send the bus for my appointment in June which was my wedding anniversary, and to go through there and not get a result was very disappointing. I sincerely hope that someone gets there act together so that I get the appropriate treatment this time as it is a 128 mile round trip every time. Also at the onset of my previous operation earlier in the year we had to pay for the hotel accommodation and as we are both pensioners I found it a bit harsh having to pay for this hotel stay.

Yours very disappointedly.
