"Trying to change an appointment"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Pain Management

(as the patient),

Felt like I was getting no where as I kept getting more numbers thrown at me, There was nobody picking up the number I needed, just an answer machine that talked quite fast and gave out lots more numbers. As I have Parkinson's I find it difficult to write numbers and take in a lot of information quickly, so I need to talk to a person. One number I rang did get answered, but could only pass me back to the number with the automated message. I had to get my son to call and leave a message, but there is no way of knowing the message was received and acted upon. Even on the site there is no way to email the relevant person or department. It is not surprising appointments are not attended, given my experience of trying to change an appointment.

Dear Sir/Madam

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on this website.

I am sorry to read of the problems you have experienced in trying to change your appointment with the Pain Management team.

I understand you have asked your son to call on your behalf to make the changes but you remain unsure if the message has been recieved.

I would be very grateful if you could contact the Patient Advice & Liaison Service (PALS) on 01296 316042 who will take you details, and check that your message has been recieved and call you back to reassure you.

In the meantime I will share your comments with the access manager as this is useful feedback we can use to improve our service to patients.

Kind regards

Anthony Banton
