Having had a sore eye the day before going on holiday and being a contact lense wearer I thought maybe I had makeup on my lens I thought my eye would feel better the next day.I woke at 4 am with a sharp shooting pain at the back of my eye.I arrived at my opticians without an appointment at 9am,kindly because I was in pain and due to be flying at 1.55pm the optician saw me before she started her appointment list and informed me I had an ulcer on my eye.Checking where I could be seen by a specialist on a Saturday morning she advised me to go straight to Manchester eye hospital but take my luggage with me as I may still be able to get on my flight.I rang my husband who got our bags and drove me to the emergency clinic at the eye hospital.Explaining my situation the receptionist was fantastic and I was seen in triage within 15 mins who then spoke to the consultant who saw me virtually straight away. After a thorough eye examination the consultant explained I had a small ulcer on my eye and decided she could give me medication to take away with me and told me if I felt no better whilst away I was to seek medical advice abroad. So after 2hrs of thorough examinations I was armed with a prescription for 1 weeks tablets and 3 different eye drops to be applied every hour and ointment for nighttime, unfortunately the only delay was at the hospital pharmacy.but we did make our flight ,we had an hour to get from the hospital meet my daughter where we left our car at my sisters and got to the airport at 1.10pm,straight through security with my bag of medication and got to the gate to board straight away. Although I don't remember much about the flight as I was still in quite a lot of pain, within 24hours I was feeling much better and had a brilliant holiday.I cannot thank the receptionist, the nurses the consultant and all the staff on duty enough .I could not have had better treatment and service if I had paid privately Thank you again
