"First Colonoscopy procedure"

This was my first ever Colonoscopy procedure and from the time I received the initial phone call from the department to discuss my medical details prior to my procedure day to the actual day itself I was impressed by the helpful staff who had answered all my queries and were kind and understanding throughout the time I was in the department The procedure itself was not as bad as I had anticipated and throughout the time it was being done the nursing staff in attendance were so supportive by holding my hand and talking to me throughout The Dr who conducted the colonoscopy was informative and talked through the findings with me and gave me a copy of his report which would also be sent to my GP I then went to the recovery area briefly before dressing and being taken to a room for a warm drink and biscuits before being seen by a Endoscopy nurse who met with myself and my husband to talk through my results and gave me advice I was in the Dept for approx. 2-3 hrs before being allowed to go home The only downside was that some hours later I developed what seemed like hay fever with a itchy nostril and sneezing which just worsened as the day went on even though I took antihystiamine tablets I phoned the Dept and they said it was probably caused by the oxygen nasal cannula as they had had a few similar reports from patients about this but felt sure the reaction would settle in the next few days but I was to phone if I had any further concerns I think it was an unlucky end to an otherwise excellent procedure
