My initial contact with SLT was via a drop in centre. I raised concerns regarding my then 2-year-old son's lack of speech and communication. A referral had already been made to the service by my Health Visitor. I was reassured that a referral was in place (after the therapist double checked for me).
Fast forward just over a year and my son who is now 4 has benefitted initially from weekly home speech and language therapy sessions and then once he was at nursery he had nursery based visits on a weekly basis too. I have just completed the Hanen more than words course. All of the therapists that have been involved in my son's care have been amazing. Caring, warm and always willing to share ideas to improve my son's communication. The More than Words course was also amazing. To see how far my son has come in the weeks I attended the course is quite amazing. I feel very lucky to have been given the opportunity to attend the course. But, more so, to see the progress my son has made in the past year is phenomenal. I believe a lot of this is due to the support from the SLT team, for him and for me and the early intervention. I'm so grateful to this team!
