"Appointment waiting time"

About: Crosshouse Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

Routine eye test revealed cause to be seen by eye clinic at crosshouse. Optician wanted me seen within the next week so sent an urgent referral. After 4 weeks I  still had not received an appointment. Have phoned several times to be told it is with the coordinator and still to be looked at.

4 weeks is a very long time for an emergancy appointment to be sitting waiting to be looked at! One member of staff I spoke to in appointments made me feel that they didnt care, laughing with someone else whilst on the phone.

I respond initially to most of the posts and ensure they are passed to the appropriate team whether they are compliments, observations or grumbles. It is important to make sure all issues are addressed and I try to encourage that to happen for all the posts as required.

Firstly, I am sorry to take so long to respond. These pesky holidays ...

I am so sorry you have waited so long for your appointment to date, this must have been really distressing for you. I agree that four weeks is a long time to worry. I think that having any doubts about your eyes/ sight is very distressing. (I do know this, honestly).

Even if you have now received an appointment, I think it would be helpful for us all to understand what has happened here.
