I was sent by my GP on a 2 week pathway for weight loss and stomach problems, the very next morning I received a phone call from a nurse in the clinic explaining exactly what tests I would have done, these were ct scan, gastroscopy and colonoscopy, she explained everything to me and was extremely kind.
Two days later I had CT scan, the following week I had the gastroscopy and colonoscopy.
The endoscopy clinic had sent out literature and the dreaded laxatives explaining what you need to do, for anybody who has to have these tests done, do not be afraid, they are not as bad as you think they will be.
The day of the tests arrived and all the staff and especially the Consultant that I saw were so kind.
They tea and biscuits you receive afterwards was wonderfull.
Four weeks later I received my results and all was well the polyp that was removed was benign, but it was of the type that can turn become malignant.
Repeat colonoscopy in one year.
This is a superb example of the NHS at its best, well done Basildon Hospital, thank you.
