About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Respiratory Medicine (Ward 12)

Thank you so much to Ward 12 at Hairmyres for the compassionate care my mum received during her admission. Everyone showed both my mum and the rest of our family such kindness. Special thanks to Becca and Morag who provided my mum with much needed reassurance and emotional support. Only disappointing aspect of her stay was it took about 30 hours for her to see a Dr after she requested review due to the discontinuation of medications without explanation. We totally understand that the junior Drs are incredibly busy over the weekend but if it takes so long for review then there really should be more staff on duty.

Thank you so much for your feedback on the care opinion website. The team in ward 12 will be delighted to learn of your comments – they are a very caring team and it is wonderful to hear that your mum and your family benefited from this. Being in hospital can be a difficult time for both the patients and the families so it is great to hear you describe the care your mum received as compassionate and that you felt the team showed kindness to you all. I will ensure in particular Becca and Morag are made aware of your personal mention of them.

Please accept my apologies for the time your mum waited to see a doctor I appreciate this did not enhance your mum’s journey and that this left your mum and your family feeling disappointed. If you would like to contact patient affairs on 01355 585325 to provide more information this will allow me to look into this to see if there is any learning that can be achieved.
