I was diagnosed with inoperable terminal pancreatic cancer and my wife and myself were completely shocked. I did not believe I had pancreatic cancer, my wife thought I did, but her thoughts were nothing was going to happen to me.
I was referred to St Luke's Hospice for pain management. Harrow Community Nursing who operate from St. Luke's telephoned me, as well as St Luke's. I did not contact St Luke's for a further 4 weeks, until the pain was unmanageable.
Jacky from St Luke's came to my flat and diagnosed pain management and she was so kind, informative and gave us confidence. Jacky came every week but as I have complex health issues, we could not get the pain under control. I have just returned home from St Luke's for pain management. I was scared to go to St Luke's but they were wonderful. All the staff are so kind and cheerful. It is very peaceful with such lovely gardens, The doctor Clare was excellent. I spent 9 nights at St Luke's and it was definitely the right decision to monitor the pills to help me. My son and daughter thought St Luke's was excellent.
"It was definitely the right decision"
