"There needs to be more care and empathy"

About: Princess Royal University Hospital (Orpington)

(as a service user),

You have to get there an hour early. There used to be an opportunity to have a blood test done by a nurse - now done by a self-testing kit. You have to go in and point to your symptoms on a piece of card. With other bystanders in a queue. If any symptoms. I asked to speak to a nurse regarding general sexual health advice and was informed to phone up Orpington sexual health clinic for advice. I was then told by the helpline that it was Beckenham that was there to do this. The security guard kindly got me back in the queue to explain my situation. There needs to be a session where people can talk to a nurse should they have concerns regarding results or wanting clarification. I felt intimidated and judged by reception staff. All numbered time slots and having to come back is time-consuming also. There needs to be more care and empathy and blood testing from nurses as the self-testing kits are difficult to use with a small test tube. And only 3 finger prick equipment is not enough to give blood for testing. Took me 3 hrs to do a self-testing kit.
