"The seamless care I received"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Orthopaedics Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a service user),

I was a driver involved in a car crash on the A90.

I am writing this to say a huge thank you to everyone that helped and looked after myself and my friend.

A lovely nurse who was a passer by on the road who worked for Grampian (who I frustratingly can't remember the name of) was amazing. She comforted me when it initially happened as I was so frightened. There was also a lovely driver from Zimbabwe who helped out and was so kind. They both put me at ease and helped a great deal and they cannot be thanked enough.

I was then taken into the ambulance. The paramedics were amazing. Ruth, Amy, Mark and Wayne - again, I can't thank you enough. You gave me lots of laughs despite being so scared and helped me so much. I hope you ended up having a great birthday and enjoyed your carrot and chocolate cake!

I was then taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. The team at ARI were all fantastic. Porters, nurses, doctors, surgeons, radiographers, physio's, OT's and more. I can't remember names, but everyone provided me with amazing care and put me at great ease. Also, the staff and students in ward 212 at ARI were brilliant. The surgeons have fixed me up brilliantly and were such lovely people. The theatre nurses also put me at great ease and were so kind.

Everyone cannot be thanked enough and I am so grateful for the seamless care I received.

Dear Kroscoe,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share this lovely feedback on CareOpinion. It sounds like you have had a quite a scary experience and I am sorry that you have gone through this. I do hope that you are now on the road to a full recovery.

I am also sorry that you had to go through surgery but very pleased to read that the surgeons and theatre nurses did a bang up job. I am also pleased to read that the crew from the ambulance service took care of you in a manner I would expect and I too hope that they enjoyed their birthday and cake!

If you would like me to pass on these kind comments directly to the crew and their line manager can you email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net and provide me with details of the incident? I would just need to know the day and time and rough location and I am sure I will be able to trace the staff from that.

All the best!

Alan

Dear kroscoe

I would like to join Alan in thanking you for taking the time to post your feedback on Care Opinion. It means a huge amount to staff to know that they are doing a great job. Your story truly demonstrates the level of teamwork that goes on in the NHS and SAS every single day. I can tell from your story that some of our staff have left a lasting impression on you.

Orthopaedics and theatres are very busy environments but the staff work hard every day to ensure that each patient is treated as an individual in a person-centred and safe way. I will ensure that the staff in 212 and theatres are made aware of your lovely comments. They will be very pleased indeed.

I hope you are now recovering well and getting back to normal. Thanking you again!
