I have been suffering severe nerve pain in my hand. My GP diagnosed me with carpel tunnel, I am a single mother of two, one being a baby and this pain has impacted every aspect of my life. Pain relief and splints have not helped so the GP referred me to orthopaedics as urgent, as the condition is deteriorating quickly and the GP wants me to have surgery before the damage is too extensive to fix. The ortho consultant downgraded my referral, my GP said this was not good. So sent another urgent referral as well as a letter explaining why I needed to be seen quickly, I’ve just found out I’ve been downgraded again.
I think this is disgusting, this consultant has never met me or examined me yet my GP who has seen me every day for the last week is wrong?
I live in fear that I’m going to drop my child, like I drop everything else with my sore hand, and I struggle to grip nappies and buttons clothes. Why am I not being seen, why am I not being given the treatment my gp says I need urgently.
