"flexibility of staff"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Radiology (X-rays and Scans)

(as a service user),

I was attending an appointment and had to get an xray. Whilst waiting for my name to be called a care assistant from a care home and a resident arrived. The carer and resident were in the completely wrong hospital and campus. The receptionist had gone to get someone to see if it was possible for the resident to be seen here to save another trip. She came to the waiting room to speak to the resident and carer and explained that the team were busy scanning at that time but she would check with them and let them know soon. Less than 5 minutes later the residents name was called and she was seen. None of the staff made a big fuss about having to squeeze them in or anything. They made sure that the resident was put first. This started with the reception team. I didn't hear any huffing puffing or witness any eye rolling- they were hugely accommodating and respectful. What a team!

Dear JW1990

I was heartened to hear that the radiology department in ARI delivered such person centred care to the resident and carer who mistakenly arrived at the wrong department..

Staff morale is boosted when they hear comments such as these and I will forward these onto all the staff concerned

I do hope your own procedure went well

Thank you for taking the time to post such positive comments on care opinion
