My uncle was admitted to ward 20 last week in what turned out to be his last days of life. As a family we were prepared for this and agreed with medical staff to discontinue treatment, bring him home and make his last days as comfortable as possible.
Staff Nurse Marie was on duty every day my uncle was there and I cannot express strongly enough our gratitude as a family for firstly her efforts to get him home, then, when this could not be achieved in time, she ensured he was made comfortable with the medication he needed and communicated with us continually throughout.
This kind of care and dedication inspires such faith and trust in a family at a time like this. She is a credit to the profession and certainly an asset to the organisation. Thanks also to ACE nurse Agnes and Dr Jo for their input to my uncle's care
