"sent to A&E which was not needed"

About: City Care Centre

I took my 5 year old to the minor illness ctr yesterday evening as she had embedded a Stone in her hip after coming off her scooter.

When I walked in we were seen to straight away by the receptionist who immediately got a member of staff to check out the wound. I wasn’t introduced to who the gentleman was but he said we needed to go to A&E to get it checked out. He put some dressing on. I didn’t feel that she needed hospital care but he was adamant it was needed. We got to A&E to be told there was a 3-4 hour wait time which later went up to 5 hours. After 2 hours we saw a nurse who informed me he didn’t think this was A&E treatment and the minor illnesses ctr should have dealt with it.

A further 1 & half hours later we saw the doctor who said exactly the same. I am annoyed that my daughter did not get home until 11:30pm when it could have been sorted out within an hour. A&E is stretched to the max and we only added to this last night due to no fault of my own!
