On arriving at Lincoln county outpatients in May, together with my wife we approached the desk to face a receptionist who was talking to a colleague sitting next to them. This continued for some time and without any explanation the receptionist got up and left. We thought this was rude as they made no attempt to speak to us or to explain just why they needed to leave us.
After we did register my attendance we proceeded to clinic 4, vascular department .I am currently wheelchair bound and after travelling for over an hour to reach Lincoln I thought it would be sensible to make use of the disabled toilet prior to my consultation. Thankfully I had my family with me to assist as using the Disabled toilet on my own would have been impossible.
1. the door does not have a swing hinge but a very strong open outwards only door.
2. the toilet basin was a standard height which in itself makes using it difficult
3. no grab rail on the left hand side of the toilet which for me made it impossible to stand and maneuver myself to the wheelchair. Thankfully I had my wife in attendance and she was just strong enough to help me stand.
Thankfully my consultation went well with a sympathetic doctor.
