Following a stroke and a week in Ward 21, Monklands Hospital being cared for by great nurses, my mother was transferred to Glenmore Unit, Coathill Hospital for rehab. Apprehensive about the transfer to Coathill, we were reassured by Pauline, staff nurse in Ward 21 that Glenmore Unit would provide the excellent care my mother required at this time in her recovery, and we have not been disappointed!
We were kept informed of the transfer and were able to meet her on transfer. My mother was welcomed by two cheery nurses - Margaret Anne and Tracey. Before long, the staff nurses Patricia popped in to welcome us and explain how the Ward operates - visiting hours etc. We felt reassured and welcomed as a family. All staff across all services in Glenmore Unit provide excellent care, with male nurses, David and Colin demonstrating a respectful attitude while dealing with personal care. Staff are attentive, caring, supportive and while patient centred are also family orientated. Their humour and positive attitude around the ward is a welcome thing in what can sometimes be stressful, difficult times for patients and families. My mother comments positively about each and every member of the medical team when they pass by her bed. All in all, a positive experience where teamwork is not only visible but tangible - something that makes the care ‘work like clockwork’. Fabulous people! Fabulous care!
"Fabulous people, fabulous care"
