I had a couple of strokes early summer last year and, whilst I staying in Hairmyres Hospital, I had myself referred to the Speech Therapy department because I often had difficulty in expressing myself in the tone which I wanted to.
Following discharge from hospital, my out patient speech therapy was taken on by Siobhan.
Over the course of our appointments, Siobhan took the time to understand the (often subtle) communication issues myself and my family were experiencing.
To my surprise Siobhan treated me and my post stoke problems in a holistic manner and spent as much time on helping me develop post stroke coping strategies as she did on actual speech problems per se.
My wife and myself can’t speak highly enough (no pun intended) about the care provided to us by Siobhan. A stroke has a huge impact on both the patient and their family. Siobhan got that, listened, cared, and helped both of us cope.
She is a credit to her profession, the NHS and Hairmyres Hospital
