"Hiccups for over 48 hours"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

My husband had hiccups for over 48 hours then started a severe coughing bout. We had been to N.H.S. out of hours service and  were given two medicines that did not help so went to hospital for assistance at 2 am

The care and help we received from all staff was exceptional.

as my husband had previously had a tumour they gave him a heart trace, kept checking his blood pressure , gave him a chest x-ray, they tried everything they could to stop hiccups . After 10 hours we went home with more medication which we are now trying.

We can't thank them enough for all the help. We are very grateful to all staff so thank you to all of them.

Dear grateful hamilton

Thank you for taking the time to share your husbands recent visit to the emergency department. It must have been a worrying time for both of you and especially difficult for your husband.

I notice that your husband was in the department for a number of hours and apologise for that. However I am pleased to hear that you feel your husband received exceptional care. Feedback is very important to us all and I will share your comments with the team.

I hope that your husband is now recovering well. Thank you again for your comments.

Best wishes

Lise
