I suffered a severe laceration to my left shin early December 2018 - I suffered a number of complications with the wound including infections and DVT. The care and treatment provided by the nurses at the surgery has been outstanding.
I visited the surgery 2/3 times weekly following the accident - I was impressed by the attention given to my wound as well as the advice given regarding care. As my wound was slow to heal, I was referred to the Treatment Room at The Healthport for specialist wound dressing care. Unfortunately the standard of care I received at The Healthport was poor and fell way below the standard I had experienced at the surgery. This concerned me and after approx. 6 weeks, I returned to the surgery and asked if I could revert to having my wound reviews there.
The surgery had expected the nurses at The Healthport to refer me to specialists such as the tissue viability service and a vascular surgeon - this didn't happen and the referrals were ultimately made by the surgery. It has taken 5 months for my wound to heal and the treatment I have received from the surgery during that time has been outstanding. I would highly recommend the wound dressing service provided at the surgery.
