I am writing to say how well my mother was cared for at the NNUH over the last days before she passed away.
The consideration and compassion shown by the Doctors and their teams on Loddon Ward was outstanding.
My mother was treated with respect and dignity by all the doctors and surgeons involved in her care.
They took all the time necessary to explain the options and to listen and adhere to her wishes.
The cleaning and catering staff worked hard to keep the rooms clean and tidy and to provide anything we asked for.
The palliative care team and nursing staff involved were wonderful.
They did everything they could to ensure that during her last few days she was comfortable and free of pain.
We were very impressed by how much all staff knew about my mother before attending her, even if it was for the first time.
The handover between shifts seemed to go very smoothly and the doctors who checked her each day were well prepared before they visited her.
We believe very strongly that the treatment of older people on Loddon Ward is exemplary.
All staff have a good understanding of the complex medical conditions and mobility issues involved and show patience and respect at all times.
Thank you to all involved.
